Sam Bhandal Receives MCVL Defensive Player of the Week Award
Sam Bhandal of the Trine University men's volleyball team has been named Midwest Collegiate Volleyball League (MCVL) Defensive Player of the Week following four victories in the last week. It is the first MCVL award Bhandal has received in his career.
The Thunder have now won six straight matches, the last four coming against Indiana Tech, Bethel University, North Park University and Maranatha Baptist University, all in straight sets.
The junior setter from Marysville, Washington competed in three of four matches and tallied 99 assists, 35 digs, four blocks, three aces and two kills. His 35 assists against Bethel is the most in a three-set match this season. In that match is where all three aces were tallied and he dug out a career-high 15 digs as well.
League play begins on Wednesday, March 15 when Adrian College visits Hershey Hall. First serve is set for 7 p.m.
