Anita Hess, incumbent Vice President of the Noble County Board of Commissioners, is seeking the Republican nomination for re-election to her seat representing District 3. The primary eletion will be held on May 7.
In a press release, RED PAC Chief Strategist Charlie Kolean endorsed Hess, saying she was a candidate who shared "our values of supporting private property rights, championing fiscal responsibility, and tirelessly working towards enhancing government transparency." Kolean said that Hess "[reflects] the conservative ideals that guide our efforts in rural economic development.”
In a KPC News profile, Hess shared that she graduated from Noble High School in 1975 and attended Indiana University. She has been working as a realtor since 1979, earning a number of professional designations as well as a reputation as a hardworking, successful agent.
According to her Facebook page, in addition to serving as a Noble County Commissioner, Hess is a real estate broker on the Hoosier Heartland Team at Century 21 Bradley Realty alongside her husband Tim. She is also involved in local service organizations like Kendallville Cares and 100 Women Who Care Noble County.
A post on the Hoosier Heartland Team's Facebook page highlighted Hess' record of community service and revealed that "Faith, Family, Friends and Community is what guides her daily." Hess and her husband are proud parents and grandparents.
According to the Indiana County Commissioners, the county board of commissioners acts as the executive body of the county and shares legislative duties with the county council. The board of commissioners has the authority to pass ordinances in a number of broad areas, including supervising road and bridge construction and maintenance, developing programs to cultivate economic progress, auditing and authorizing disbursements for the county, and appointing members to serve on various boards, commissions, and committees. The commission is made up of three members, each representing one district, who are elected to four-year terms.
