Men's Track and Field 22nd in USTFCCCA National Rating Index

The United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) has released its first National Rating Index of the 2022-23 NCAA DIII indoor track and field season. The Trine University men's track and field team finds themselves 22nd in the nation to begin the push to the NCAA DIII Indoor National Championships in Birmingham, Alabama.

The Thunder are the only men's track and field team named from the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) and are third in the Great Lakes region. The University of Mount Union and John Carroll University out of the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) sit in 9th and 14th in the inaugural poll of the season.

Trine has turned in successful outings at their first four events of the season. They opened the indoor slate at Defiance College and Indiana Tech in early December and notched three out of a possible four MIAA Athlete of the Week awards prior to the holiday break. From there, the team hosted the Sean Brady Alumni Invitational and traveled south to Purdue-Fort Wayne to compete in the Mastodon Invitational.

Theodore Samra has two MIAA Field Athlete of the Week awards on his ledger already this season and is currently ranked 12th nationally in the weight throw. Jake Gladieux and Greysen Spohn have also tallied MIAA Athlete of the Week awards. Gladieux is second in the country in the 60-meter hurdles and Spohn 21st in the high jump. The distance medley relay team of Holden Martin, Blane Johnson, Aidan Lapp and Joseph Packard are listed as seventh in the country at the NCAA DIII level following a great showing at the Mastodon Invitational.
