The Trine University women's hockey team picked up another three points toward the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) standings by beating Finlandia University 4-1 for the second straight night. Sophomore Payton Hans and senior Grace Canty led the way for the team each recording three points.

Hans scored the first goal of the day in the 12th minute of the first period. Canty and fellow senior Makena Thompson added assists. It ended up being the lone goal of the period with the Thunder taking a 1-0 lead into intermission.

Canty added to the lead in the tenth minute of the second, with Hans and Thompson assisting. Just a few minutes later junior Taryn Raisanen tallied another to make the score 3-0. Senior Gabrielle Hicks and sophomore Anabelle Scriver added assists. Both goals came on power play opportunities for Trine.

The Thunder spent most of the second period on the offensive, outshooting the opposition 19-4 for the largest margin of the night. In the final seconds, the Lions did find the back of the net to pull back within two at 3-1.

The lone goal of the third would go to Hans, with Canty and junior Madison Toor adding assists. The team's third power play conversion of the afternoon put the score to final at 4-1.

Freshman Casey Frank earned another win in net for the team, recording 11 saves along the way.

Trine improves to 6-8 overall and 4-4 in NCHA play following the victory. They will return home for their next competition, hosting Hilbert College for a non-conference doubleheader. The first game is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Friday, January 20.
