Trine 18th in Most Recent D3hoops.com Poll
The Trine University women's basketball team has moved up to 18th in the nation in the D3hoops.com Top 25 poll.
The Thunder moved up two spots in the rankings after Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) wins at Adrian College and versus previously #15 Calvin University. Trine now has a 5-2 record overall and have started conference play at 2-0.
The mid-week game between the Thunder and Bulldogs was decided in a lopsided second quarter where Trine took a commanding 35-22 lead into the locker room. The defense held Adrian to 3-of-12 from beyond the arc, thwarting their efforts to make a comeback.
The Thunder allowed just 45 points to the ranked Knights in Saturday's victory, a season-low for the team. They once again defended well from three (3-of-14) and won the turnover battle 16-11, with seven of those charged to preseason All-American selection, Gabby Timmer. Sophomore Sidney Wagner was credited with career-highs in points (19) and rebounds (7).
Senior Alyssa Argyle holds the league's top assist-to-turnover ratio at 3.75 and sits just outside the top-30 nationally. She knocked down three three-point field goals in the win against Calvin en route to a season-high 11 points. Sophomore Sierra Hinds has the MIAA's best three-point percentage at 40.0% and senior Sam Underhill holds the best free throw percentage in the conference at 88.9%.
Trine remains at home on Saturday, December 10 when the Thunder host Olivet College at 3 p.m.
