The holiday that celebrates nature and encourages people to plant trees. Here is what Auburn is doing in and around the community for trees.
Auburn Parks and Recreation is hosting Spring into Nature, in conjunction with their Tree Seedling pickup and DeKalb County Soil and Water Conservation District tree sale at Eckhart Park on Saturday, April 30, from 9 am – noon.
In 2021, the Tree Commission completed a tree inventory and maintenance plan with Davey Resource Group for Auburn’s public trees. The inventory identified a list of trees that need maintenance. The Maintenance plan identified trees to be trimmed, trained, and removed. Current phase involves removal of trees. Our hope is to repopulate at a minimum of 1 for 1 ration, for every tree removed, and new one is planted. The public will see a lot of tree activity of the next few years, trimming, removing, and replanting.
The City of Auburn Tree Commission is also working to define and implement a tree planting project for Fall 2022.
